- At least 60 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip since morning, including 30 people killed in Gaza City alone.

- Medical charity Doctors without Borders (MSF) said Friday it had been forced to suspend its work in Gaza City because of the ongoing Israeli offensive there.
- Dozens of members walked out as Israel’s increasingly isolated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the UN General Assembly, promising to continue the war on Gaza.
- But US President Donald Trump said he was close to forging a deal to end the war in Gaza and bring the captives home, without revealing any details or timetable.

Israeli air strikes in Gaza occur ‘every eight or nine minutes’: UN
“Israeli forces have stepped up their operations over the past 24 hours, with devastating consequences for civilians,” UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said at a news conference, citing the Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
“On average, this meant an air strike every eight or nine minutes.”
Dujarric said the UN teams monitoring population movement “counted about 16,500 displaced people from northern Gaza to the south” on Thursday alone.
He noted that aid workers remain positioned along displacement routes to provide support, but warned of mounting challenges.
“Aid workers remain stationed along displacement routes, offering psychosocial first aid, referring people to specialised services when needed, and educating new arrivals on the danger of explosive ordinances,” he said.

Coalition of athletes calls on UEFA to suspend Israel
A statement with 48 signatures, including those of France midfielder Paul Pogba and cricketer Moeen Ali has called for the suspension of Israel over the treatment of Palestinians in Gaza.
“As professional athletes of diverse backgrounds, faiths, and beliefs, we believe sport must uphold the principles of justice, fairness, and humanity,” read the statement, under the banner of Athletes 4 Peace.
“We, the signatories of Athletes 4 Peace, call upon UEFA to immediately suspend Israel from all competitions until it complies with international law and ends its killing of civilians and the widespread starvation.”
The statement cited the death last month of Suleiman al-Obeid, known as the Palestinian Pele, who, according to the Palestine Football Association, was killed when Israeli forces attacked civilians waiting for humanitarian aid in southern Gaza.

Israeli forces raid Palestinian communities in occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem
Israeli forces are conducting raids across the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
South of Bethlehem the Israeli military has entered the area of al-Khidhr and the al-Dahaysha refugee camp, according to the Palestinian state news agency Wafa.
No arrests have been reported.
Meanwhile, Wafa also reported that Israeli forces surrounded the home of Muthana Amro, one of two gunmen accused of carrying out an attack on Israelis in occupied East Jerusalem in early September. Amro was killed during the attack.
Israeli authorities are planning to demolish the Amro family home in al-Qubayba, northwest of Jerusalem. Israel typically destroys the homes of Palestinians it accuses of carrying out attacks, in a practice widely condemned by human rights organisations as collective punishment.

‘War crime upon war crime’ unfolding in Gaza, occupied West Bank: UN rights chief
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk has described the situation in the Gaza Strip and in the occupied West Bank as “absolutely horrific”.
“If you look at all the statements I’ve made … I speak about Gaza almost every week,” Turk told the Council on Foreign Relations meeting when responding to a question about neglect of the humanitarian situation in the coastal enclave.
“War crime upon war crime, crime against humanity upon crime against humanity.”
He reiterated that the international community must focus on immediate steps to halt the suffering, including an urgent ceasefire and the release of captives.
“The solution is clear: We need a ceasefire. We need the release of all hostages, and I believe we need a path for peace,” he added.

Detained Gaza hospital director’s health deteriorates amid ‘medical neglect’
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office says Dr Hussam Abu Safia, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, has lost 25kg (55 pounds) in Israeli custody and is suffering from heart disease, high blood pressure and scabies as a result of deliberate medical neglect.
Abu Safia, 64, has been detained since last December, when Israeli forces arrested him inside Kamal Adwan while he was treating the wounded. His continued detention without charge or trial has been denounced as part of Israel’s systematic targeting of Palestinian medical staff.
His wife, quoted by the media office, has urged the world to intervene to save his life, saying: “His only crime was saving the wounded.”

Netanyahu’s rhetoric at UN ‘falls flat’
Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst Marwan Bishara says Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s latest UN address was likely to have been received “badly” globally, and probably even “alienated” Western allies.
“There is a total rejection of Netanyahu’s tone,” Bishara said. He argued that Netanyahu’s confrontational approach undermined allies who had recently recognised Palestinian statehood after “30 years of failed peace process”.
Bishara described the Israeli leader’s rhetoric as outdated and repetitive, adding that Netanyahu was “recycling old sound bites” that were not working out anymore.
“They fall flat … and the only people who would clap for him are his minions,” he said. “I think he got the wrong stack today. This is a speech that you give to Congress, not a speech you give to the United Nations, where people know what Israel’s crimes are.”

Palestinian death toll from Israeli attacks in Gaza rises to 60 since dawn on Friday
That’s according to medical sources in hospitals across Gaza.
Heavy Israeli air strikes have been conducted across the Strip. In recent hours, they have hit locations such as al-Wehda Street, Shati Camp, and the Nassr neighbourhood, all in Gaza City.
The medical sources added that 13 of those killed on Friday had been attempting to get aid from GHF distribution sites.

UNRWA: One in three children in Gaza have gone a full day without food
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) says one in three children in Gaza did not eat at all during the past 24 hours due to severe food shortages caused by Israel’s crippling blockade.
Citing an International Rescue Committee assessment, UNRWA said the toll on children is “unbearable”, with many forced into child labour or begging to survive.
The agency renewed its call for an immediate ceasefire.

Israelis from illegal settlements attack Palestinian homes in Hebron’s Masafer Yatta
Armed Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian homes in the village of al-Halawa in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, the Wafa news agency reports.
It cited local activist Osama Makhmara as saying that settlers from a nearby illegal outpost hurled stones at homes, assaulted members of the Abu Aram family, and stole two donkeys.
Israeli soldiers also detained a young man, Mohammed Ahmed Abu Aram, after he tried to confront the settlers, who caused widespread damage to residents’ property.
Settlers, often protected by Israeli soldiers, routinely attack Palestinians and their property, vandalising, torching, assaulting, and at times killing with impunity.

Death toll in Israeli strikes on Yemeni capital rises to 9, say Houthis
Yemen’s Houthis have said the death toll from Thursday’s Israeli air raids on the capital, Sanaa, has risen to nine killed, including four children and two women.
At least 174 others were wounded, among them 59 children, it said.
It added that civil defence and rescue teams are still searching through the rubble for victims.
The Houthis condemned Thursday’s strikes, which they said targeted residential neighbourhoods and civilian infrastructure.
The rebel group have controlled Sanaa since 2014. Yemen’s internationally recognised government is based in Aden.

The group also said it struck another tank and a bulldozer on Tuesday in al-Shati refugee camp in western Gaza using a Yassin shell and an explosive device.

MSF suspends activities in Gaza City amid Israeli assault
Doctors without Borders (MSF) says it has been forced to suspend lifesaving medical work in Gaza City as Israeli tanks and air strikes close in on its clinics, creating an “unacceptable level of risk” for staff and patients
“Our clinics are encircled by Israeli forces … this is the last thing we wanted, as the needs in Gaza City are enormous,” said Jacob Granger, MSF’s emergency coordinator in Gaza.
The group said its facilities carried out more than 3,640 consultations last week alone, including for malnutrition, trauma injuries and maternal care, but that Israel’s escalating assault has made operations impossible.
MSF warned that hundreds of thousands of people remain trapped in Gaza City, unable to leave, while hospitals across the enclave are overwhelmed and deprived of supplies, fuel and staff.
“We have been left with no choice but to stop our activities, as our clinics are encircled by Israeli forces… This is the last thing we wanted.”
