Israeli opposition warns wars pushing army to breaking point
Israel’s opposition leader Yair Lapid has accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of driving the country into a “security catastrophe” as the war intensifies.
Speaking on the 27th day of Israel’s war on Iran and Lebanon, Lapid said the military is overstretched and lacks the resources to sustain operations across multiple fronts.
“Our pilots, our fighters are currently writing glorious chapters in the history of the State of Israel … But the [Israeli army] is being pushed to the limit, beyond its limits,” he said, warning the government has left “the army wounded, abandoned on the battlefield.”
“The government is sending the army to fight a war on several fronts without a strategy, without the necessary resources and with far too few soldiers,” he added.

Lebanon accuses Israel of war crimes and seeking to turn country into Gaza
Lebanon’s deputy prime minister, Tarek Mitri, has accused Israel of committing war crimes during its ongoing bombardment, warning parts of the country risk being devastated in the same way as Gaza.
“[Bezalel] Smotrich, the finance minister, has said we will turn southern Lebanon into Khan Younis, which is the southern part of Gaza. We have real fears that this is the case,” he told Sky News UK.
Mitri said authorities are documenting systematic violations of international humanitarian law, including the targeting of emergency workers.

At least 42 paramedics have been killed since Israel escalated its war on Lebanon on March 2.

US’s Rubio says ‘growing amount of energy’ flowing through Hormuz
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says intermediary countries are “passing messages and progress has been made” in talks with Iran.
“There’s a growing amount of energy that’s been flowing through the straits, not as much as should be flowing, but some of it has picked up,” he told reporters.
“There’s been some progress in regards to the exchange of messages, but that’s an ongoing and fluid process, and not one we’re going to negotiate or talk about in the media.”
Rubio said the Strait of Hormuz “can be open tomorrow if Iran stops threatening global shipping”.
“For all these countries that care about international law, they should be doing something about it,” he added.

Details revealed of Board of Peace plan for Gaza disarmament
A plan submitted by Donald Trump’s Board of Peace Director-General Nickolay Mladenov for the disarmament of Hamas and other Palestinian groups in Gaza has been seen by Al Jazeera.
The proposal would see disarmament – one of the components of the October ceasefire to end Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza – implemented gradually over an eight-month, multiphase process.
It would see disarmament in exchange for Israel fulfilling its own obligations, including allowing reconstruction materials into Gaza to begin the work of rebuilding the enclave after Israel’s devastation of the territory since October 2023.
Israel would also allow an increase in humanitarian aid entering Gaza, and the plan envisions the transfer of the administration of the Palestinian territory to a national committee.

Even before the war launched on Iran, support for Israel among US citizens dramatically decreased, according to a Gallup poll, marking an unprecedented shift in decades of overwhelming, unconditional backing.
About 36 percent said they remain more favourable to the Israelis, while 41 percent of Americans said said they sympathise more with Palestinians now.
But can it have real consequences? Watch AJ+ below:
