“I’m just in disbelief, to be honest. No, actually, I do believe, because Barcelona threw everything at us today and we kept together, rode it out, rode out the storm,” McCabe told TNT Sports.

“Then our game-changers came on and made sure we got runs in behind, and Stina [Blackstenius] got the goal in the end. Unbelievable.

“To be able to give this to our fans, family, the players that have been here for so long, it is an unbelievable day for the club.”

Speaking to DAZN, Arsenal manager Slegers said: “I’m so happy for the players, staff, everyone working so hard.

“There were a few key phases in the game when we knew we had to do really well. That was the start of the game, the first 10 to 20 minutes, we knew Barcelona were going to start fast and come here confident, so we have to stop them, which we did really well.

“Then we grew into the game, we created a couple of good, open chances. At the end of the first half, they had momentum, and we knew it was going to shift. They are so good on the ball, and they locked us down in the final third, but we defended so well in the key moments.

“In the second half, they had a lot of possession. But again, how we suffered and dealt with different phases. The players that came on for us made a difference. I’m so proud of the team.”

“I don’t believe it. I am going to cry!” Williamson told TNT Sports.

“A lot of this team has been together for a long time, and to be able to do it on the biggest day. Some people had the game of their lives. I am so happy,” she added.

“In the first half, we had chances and I don’t think people believed how good they were. We said, ‘Second half, we just need one chance,’ and Stina [Blackstenius] took it.”

“We worked so hard. It was just amazing. We had to suffer a lot; they’re a top side,” Russo told TNT Sports.

“We knew coming into this game that we’d have to suffer. There would have to be moments where we wouldn’t have the ball, and we would have to be content with not having the ball, knowing our moment would come.”

Arsenal manager Renee Slegers has become the first Dutch manager to win the Women’s Champions League and third overall to win either the men’s (since 1992-93) or women’s competition after Louis van Gaal (1995 with Ajax) and Frank Rijkaard (2006 with Barcelona).

“It feels surreal. We did what we knew we could,” the forward told TNT Sports.

“I believed since the moment our Champions League journey started, we had the capability. We knew we could be good enough, it was just about going and doing it.”

We Are the Champions, the song by rock band Queen, blasts on the speakers as Arsenal’s players and fans sing at the top of their voices.

The 2024-25 title is Arsenal’s second Champions League triumph; their first was 18 years ago, the biggest gap between two trophies for a single club in the tournament’s history.

The Arsenal team, led by their manager Slegers, make their way to the stage to receive their winners’ medals.

The crowd welcomes them with a huge round of applause.

After receiving their medals, all players take a moment to kiss the trophy.

And at last, Little and Williamson lift the coveted silverware, as the confetti goes off in the background.

First up, Barcelona will receive their runners-up medals from Aleksander Ceferin, the president of UEFA.

They are being led to the stage by their manager Romeu.

Arsenal substitute Blackstenius, whose goal sealed the victory, spoke to DAZN after the final whistle.

“Obviously, I am so happy with that, but this is a team performance. We did it from the start until the very end,” the Swede said. “I am so proud of everyone, and they made it possible for me.

“I think it will take a moment for me to realise what we have done. It’s such a big moment, it really hasn’t sunk in yet.”

Arsenal have been crowned European champions for the second time. With this, they continue to be the only English club to enjoy that success.

The North London Club won the title in 2006-07 and today, in the 2024-2025 edition.

Chelsea are the only other English club to come close, finishing as finalists in 2020-2021.

Arsenal forward Stina Blackstenius struck a late winner as the London team shocked holders Barcelona 1-0 on Saturday to claim their second Women’s Champions League title.

Arsenal withstood a flurry of Barca chances before Sweden’s Blackstenius broke the deadlock in the 75th minute when she latched onto fellow substitute Beth Mead’s reverse pass in a crowded penalty area and fired a low diagonal shot past goalkeeper Catalina Coll at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Renee Slegers’s Gunners, who were making just their second appearance in the final in 18 years, having won Europe’s top competition in 2007, held on for a stunning victory to the delight of their 5,000 travelling fans.

The win comes against a mighty Barcelona team playing in their sixth final in seven years and who had hoisted the trophy in three of the past four campaigns. Saturday’s reverse was just their fourth loss of the season across all competitions.

Arsenal’s players, along with manager Slegers and the backroom staff, are dancing to the tune of “Freed from Desire”, which is playing on the loudspeakers at the stadium.

About 9,000 Arsenal fans travelled to Lisbon for this game.

Safe to say, it was well worth the trip for them.

Arsenal’s players are sharing hugs and handshakes as they celebrate the club’s second-ever women’s Champions League title. The last time they won the title was in 2006-07, when it was known as the UEFA Women’s Cup.

Barcelona players, on the other hand, are understandably heartbroken. Bonmati is pictured crying.

The Catalan club were aiming to win their third straight title, but fell short, falling to a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Arsenal’s victory also marks the first time an English club has won the women’s Champions League in 18 years. They are also the only English club that have won this title.
