‘We need a proper break,’ says Real manager Alonso

“At the beginning, the setback was strong enough. With 2-0 down, we knew that the task was really tough,” Alonso told DAZN. “Today, at the moment, the feeling isn’t the best, but we will try to learn. They [PSG] are a team that has built things for two years, we are just starting, so we will take time.

“At the moment, we need a proper break. This is not the beginning of next year; this is just the end of this season. After just three weeks, we can take positives from this experience. We will take lessons from today.”

PSG’s Enrique talks about semifinal win, Dembele and facing Chelsea

“I feel great,” Enrique told DAZN. “It is always difficult to play these kinds of matches against Real Madrid. I think we started the game very good, and we are happy with the performance.

Today’s match was PSG’s 64th of the season. Asked how he has kept his team motivated, he answered: “Especially in these conditions… it is too much heat for me. You need to play in different conditions to put up a show, but both teams did great. We are in a special season, a special moment. We deserved to win.”

Speaking about Dembele’s 35th goal of the season, he said: “It’s the first time in the tournament we could use him as a normal player because he was injured earlier… he is the best player this season by a big margin. He deserves to win everything because he gave everything to the team. And the team is going to achieve trophies, which is the most important thing for a club.

Lastly, asked about the prospect of winning a fourth title this year, Enrique said: “We will try. Chelsea are a good team… they performed well the whole competition. Now it’s time for us to prepare and recover. We are almost there and want to make history.”

Recap: PSG crush Real Madrid 4-0 to reach Club World Cup final

PSG’s Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz scored twice in a devastating first-half display as the French champions demolished Real Madrid 4-0 on Wednesday to book their place in the Club World Cup final against Chelsea.

Two defensive errors handed PSG their opening goals within nine minutes at MetLife Stadium.

Raul Asencio’s poor control in the sixth minute gifted Ousmane Dembele possession, and his first effort was saved by Thibaut Courtois before the rebound was picked up by Ruiz, who scored into an empty net.

Antonio Rudiger’s wayward pass three minutes later allowed Dembele to burst unmarked into the box before firing a tidy finish past Courtois.

Ruiz struck again in the 24th minute after Achraf Hakimi made a great run down the right, and the Spaniard held off defender Raul Asencio with a feint before finishing perfectly from close range.

Substitute Goncalo Ramos completed the rout for European champions PSG three minutes from time.

PSG’s match-winner Ruiz talks about ‘perfect performance’

PSG midfielder Ruiz, named the player of the match for his dual strikes in the first half, spoke to DAZN after the game.

“It was an incredible game,” he said. “A perfect performance, especially considering the heat. It was a brilliant team performance against a really, really tough team. We are so happy that we have gone to the final.”

Asked about his goals, he said, “I am happy for the goals, of course, but mostly, happy about the win. Now, we just have to celebrate and play the final.”

Asked if PSG can beat Chelsea, Ruiz added: “It will be difficult. They are a good team, they are doing well in this tournament. But hopefully we can win and finish this season in the best way possible.”
