Up next for Real Sociedad
With the second leg of their Copa Del Rey semifinal against Athletic Club not scheduled until early March, Real Sociedad now have two winnable fixtures in La Liga on the horizon.
The first sees them return to Anoeta, where they face bottom-side Real Oviedo at home, before they then travel to the Balearic Islands to face another relegation-threatened side in Mallorca.

A big week for Real Madrid
This 4-1 win over Real Sociedad sets Real Madrid up perfectly ahead of Tuesday’s huge clash against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League.
Los Blancos were beaten 4-2 by the Portuguese giants last month, in a game where goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin scored an incredible last-gasp goal to help his side qualify for the knockout rounds.
The two sides were then immediately pitted against one another in the playoffs to determine who goes through to the last 16 of the tournament, and the Spaniards will be out for revenge in the first leg against their old boss, Jose Mourinho.

A first defeat for Matarazzo
Pellegrino Matarazzo has suffered his first defeat since taking charge of Real Sociedad.
The American took charge in late December and subsequently oversaw a nine-game unbeaten streak across both La Liga and the Copa Del Rey before defeat here tonight, but they remain eighth in the table.
Furthermore, La Real also came into this clash off the back of a midweek Basque Derby against rivals Athletic Club in the first leg of their Copa Del Rey semifinal, which they won 1-0.

No Mbappe, no problems
While the adoring crowd would love to have seen Kylian Mbappe on the field tonight, the fact that he wasn’t needed is no doubt a huge positive for coach Alvaro Arbeloa.
Real Madrid face an away trip to Benfica in midweek for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League playoff, and Mbappe’s rest here tonight will no doubt mean he’s fit and firing ahead of that game.

A comfortable night for Real Madrid
Two penalties from Vinicius Jr, coupled with strikes from Gonzalo Garcia and Fede Valverde, secured a comfortable and comprehensive victory for Real Madrid over Real Sociedad here tonight.
Mikel Oyarzabal levelled things up for La Real in the 21st minute, but in truth, that was as good as it got for the visitors.
