‘Arsenal were the better team’, says Spurs captain

“Arsenal were the better team,” Spurs captain Micky van de Ven told Sky Sports.

“We were still in the game at 1-1, but after the second half, they scored straight away, and then it was really difficult.”

Asked what they could have done better, he replied: “We could do the press a bit better. We pressed high, but Arsenal came out of it. It’s something we need to work on.

“It’s a risk when you go man for man, and if one man is late, then you’re going to be open, but when you win the ball high, there are so many options for us. But on the opposite, when they come out, it’s a big risk.”

‘Tough game’ says Gyokeres after his double

Like Eze, Gyokeres also bagged a double.

Asked if today’s game was his best performance for the Gunners, he told Sky Sports: “In some aspects it was a good one, but in others I could have done a few bits better.

“It was a tough game, and showed much better things on the pitch.”

Let’s hear from Eze on Arsenal’s ‘important’ result

“We know what we are capable of and know what we can do. We have to play games to dominate and to win. We have the players in the team to do it. It was an important win for us, and we keep going,” Eze told Sky Sports.

Eze has scored six league goals this season, of which five have been against Spurs. Asked why he holds that record against their rivals, he replied: “I don’t know. I try to score every single game. It seems to work quite a lot against Tottenham. It’s a feeling you get.”

    Heartbreak for Spurs and Tudor

Tudor’s first game in interim charge of Spurs ends in heartbreak, as his side was thrashed 4-1 by their North London rivals.

The fear of relegation still looms, with Spurs 16th in the standings on 29 points, only four points adrift of the drop zone. They haven’t won a league game since beating Crystal Palace in late December.
