Israel kills World Central Kitchen aid workers as it pounds Gaza
The Israeli military has killed three workers with the World Central Kitchen and at least two other people in an air strike on a vehicle in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, in what was the third deadly attack on the aid group this year.

Another Israeli attack on Gaza City
Our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic, citing Palestinian sources, report that an unspecified number of people were killed and injured as a result of an Israeli attack on a family home in the Nassr neighbourhood.
Earlier in the day, we reported that seven people were killed after Israeli forces targeted a house in the Shujayea neighbourhood in eastern Gaza City.
In the Nuseirat refugee camp, in central Gaza, Israeli air strikes killed six Palestinian civilians and wounded several others. The death toll from a day of relentless attacks throughout Gaza is now nearing 100.

‘I am starving in Gaza – I don’t believe the world can’t do anything’
For over a year now, my family and I have been displaced from northern Gaza to Deir el-Balah in the middle of the Gaza Strip. Throughout this time, we, along with the rest of Gaza’s population, have lived every type of torture imaginable and unimaginable.
One of them is hunger. The Israeli army has made sure to destroy food stores, markets, warehouses storing foodstuffs, farms and fishing boats.
Every day, I wake up in the morning in a home full of family members trying to survive this madness.

Family of slain WCK aid worker denies Israel’s ‘false accusations’
After five of its staff were killed in Gaza, the World Central Kitchen (WCK) charity says it is “urgently seeking more details” after Israel’s military said it targeted one WCK worker who it alleged was part of the Hamas attack that sparked the war.
The family of the man – identified by relatives as Ahed Azmi Qdeih – rejected the allegations as “false accusations” and said he was just an aid worker, not a member of Hamas. Israel named him as Hazmi Kadih.
The latest deadly strike on aid workers highlighted the dangerous work of delivering humanitarian relief in Gaza, where the war has displaced most of the 2.3 million population and caused widespread hunger.

Dozens of Palestinians killed in Israeli attack on northern Gaza
More than 40 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air strike that targeted a house in the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, the Civil Defence agency’s spokesman, Mahmoud Basal, says.
The bombed house belonged to the al-Araj family in the Tall az-Zaatar neighbourhood. A distraught Palestinian resident, Mohammed al-Zaytouniyeh, said that “there is no safe place” in Gaza from Israeli attacks.
“Residents are being bombarded. Explosive barrels are thrown down at them, at their houses, markets, streets, shelters, schools… There is no safe place. Where should these displaced people go?”

Hundreds gather to remember Hezbollah chief Nasrallah
Hundreds of people converged in Beirut’s southern suburbs at the site where former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli air strike two months ago.
Vigils were held during a ceremony organised by the Lebanese group, whose latest war with Israel came to an end after a ceasefire was agreed to on Tuesday.
Beirut’s southern suburbs, a stronghold of Hezbollah, were pummelled by Israeli air strikes during two months of an all-out war on Lebanon.
After the ceasefire, Hezbollah announced plans for a public funeral for Nasrallah but has not specified a date.

Israeli soldier killed in Gaza, others wounded
The Israeli army says a 20-year-old sergeant was killed in a gun battle in northern Gaza and another soldier was seriously injured in the same firefight.
In another incident, the military said in a statement one troop was severely wounded during clashes with Palestinian fighters in southern Gaza.
Another soldier was “seriously wounded during an operational military activity in the north of the country [on the Lebanese border]”, without providing further details.
The death toll of Israeli troops since the beginning of its war on Gaza in October 2023 has reached 807, according to army data. Another 5,442 Israeli soldiers have been wounded, 796 of them seriously.

Ben-Gvir fires back at ‘ethnic cleansing’ in Gaza comments
Earlier, Israel’s former Defence Minister Moshe Ya’alon said in an interview that Israel’s government is carrying out “ethnic cleansing” in Gaza.
In a post on X, Israel’s current National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir responded by saying: “Ya’alon’s statements are extremely dangerous and directly contribute to tarnishing our country’s reputation in the eyes of the world.”
Ben-Gvir has staunchly opposed any deal that would end hostilities in Gaza, and has threatened to pull his party out of Netanyahu’s coalition government in the event of an Israel-Hamas ceasefire.

Israel’s army launches 2 more attacks on southern Lebanon
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reports an Israeli drone strike on Rub Thalatheen village killed two people and wounded two others in southern Lebanon.
Another attack hit a car in Majdal Zoun village. Lebanon’s Health Ministry said three were wounded, including a seven-year-old child.
Israel’s military said it has been operating to distance “suspects” in the region, without elaborating. Israel says it reserves the right to strike against any perceived ceasefire violations by Hezbollah.

Save the Children condemns killing of staff member in Israeli strike
Inger Ashing, chief executive of Save the Children, says “there are not strong enough words to express the grief and outrage” at loss of staff member Ahmad Faisal Isleem al-Qadi, who was killed in an Israeli air strike in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
“This war has been the deadliest on record for the killing of UN and aid workers with at least 337 reported killed since October 2023,” she said.
“Violence against civilians and humanitarian workers is unacceptable and it must stop. There must be a ceasefire. There must be accountability.”

Israeli strikes on Khan Younis kill at least 17 Palestinians
Earlier, we reported Israeli attacks in the southern Gaza city killed multiple Palestinians.
Save the Children confirmed with “profound sadness” that one of its staff members, Ahmad Faisal Isleem al-Qadi, was among 17 people reported killed in at least two separate attacks.
“He was killed early Saturday afternoon as he was returning home to his wife and three-year-old daughter from the mosque,” a statement from the group said.
The UK-based charity said al-Qadi, who was deaf, “shared his dream” with his co-workers of rebuilding his home that was destroyed in a previous Israeli air strike.
“Ahmad … will be remembered for his determination to help others, for his pride in his daughter, and for his ability to brighten others’ days.”

Mother of captive calls on Netanyahu to ‘keep your promise’
Earlier, the military arm of Hamas released a video of a man identifying himself as an Israeli captive held in Gaza since the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. He urged US President-elect Donald Trump to press Israel to end the war.
Edan Alexander’s mother, Yael, later spoke at a rally for the captives in Tel Aviv.
“This video has upset me, but beyond the hope it gives us, it shows how bad the situation is for Edan and the other hostages and how much they are crying out and hoping to be saved now,” Yael said.
Telling the crowd she had spoken to Prime Minister Netanyahu, she added, “You must keep your promise and free them. This state is strong enough to end the war and bring them all back, including my Edan.”
The Hostages and Missing Families Forum campaign group, meanwhile, reiterated its calls for the captives’ release.
“One year after the first and only deal, it’s clear to everyone: returning the hostages is only possible through a deal,” it said in a statement.

Hamas open to ‘all ideas’ ahead of Gaza truce talks in Egypt
Hamas is open to discussing “all ideas and proposals”, an unnamed official told AFP news agency, as representatives arrived in Cairo for talks on a possible ceasefire in Gaza.
The Palestinian group has “not received any new offer or proposal so far”, it quoted the official as saying.
But Hamas “is open to discussing all ideas and proposals that lead to the end of the war, Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the return of the displaced, the entry of humanitarian and relief aid, and a serious deal to exchange prisoners”, he said.
The talks come after a ceasefire went into effect Wednesday between Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah after a US-led effort to broker a truce.

Hamas calls for probe into Israeli use of heavy weapons in north Gaza
The Palestinian group demanded the formation of an international committee to investigate the Israeli military’s use of weapons that are allegedly “vaporizing” bodies in northern Gaza.
“The horrific testimonies provided by citizens and doctors in northern Gaza following the air strikes and massacres carried out [by Israel] against innocent civilians, and the confirmation of cases of targeting with weapons and ammunition that lead to the vaporization of bodies, strongly point to the use of internationally banned weapons by the terrorist occupation army,” Hamas said in a statement on Telegram.
It also urged the swift prosecution of “war criminals” for their crimes against humanity. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza earlier this month.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on Gaza.
